William G. Chris is a partner of Roderick Linton Belfance, LLP with extensive experience in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, fraud investigation, and business litigation. Since beginning his practice in 1985, William has tried many cases to verdict both before judges and juries in Ohio. Several of these trials included the successful defense and prosecution of insurance companies in bad faith actions and the successful defense of a five-week jury trial on a $27 million securities fraud litigation.
William has also been active in the Akron Bar Association's Certified Grievance Committee arguing several cases before the Ohio Supreme Court. He has held numerous committee and chair positions with the Akron Bar and in 2006 began a three-year term as a Trustee. He is also a Fellow of the Akron Bar Association Foundation. William has recently been appointed to the Board of the Ohio Chapter of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators, www.nspii.com, an organization established for the purpose of providing recognition, training, professionalism and support for those conducting insurance investigations. He also serves as legal advisor for Love for Angels, www.loveforangels.org, a non-profit organization involved in aiding individuals and families dealing with the affliction of Angelman's Syndrome.
William is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio (1985); U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio; U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit and the State of Florida (1986). In addition, William serves as the Prosecutor for the City of Hudson. He is also a member of the American Bar, Ohio Bar, Akron Bar and Florida Bar along with the Defense Research Institute and is AV rated from the Martindale Hubbell Law Directory.
Born in Akron and growing up in North Canton, Ohio, William graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1984 and earned a Bachelor's Arts Degree from the University of Akron in 1982.
