David A. Randolph graduated from the University of Akron in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Akron School of Law in 2020. While in law school, Mr. Randolph focused his studies and clerkships on litigation as well as general areas of civil and criminal practice. During his third year of law school, Mr. Randolph served as class president of the Student Bar Association (SBA). In this capacity, he represented the student body and served as a voice for the students and direct liaison to the SBA executive board concerning general matters and proper management of student affairs. Additionally, he was selected as a Student Ambassador working alongside the admission’s office assisting with recruitment activities and promoting Akron Law and life as a law student.

During his second year of law school, Mr. Randolph worked as a legal intern for the Summit County Prosecutor’s office, where he supported Prosecutors during all stages of criminal prosecution. Mr. Randolph then accepted a clerkship with Attorney Alfred Schrader, where he assisted in all stages of civil litigation in both state and federal courts. There, he focused on representing all forms of local governments throughout Ohio and had practice with zoning, economic development, and municipal government matters.

At the culmination of his legal education, Mr. Randolph was awarded the prestigious Pro Bono Award for Public Service, an honor granted to the full-time student with the most completed pro bono service hours throughout the student’s time in law school. As a graduation prerequisite, the University of Akron School of Law requires 30 hours of public service to be reported by each student. Mr. Randolph demonstrated a sincere commitment to the Akron community by completing 571 pro bono hours during his law school tenure. Continuing this dedication to the community, Mr. Randolph plans to engage in regular public service as a newly licensed member of the Ohio Bar.

Mr.  Randolph is certified to practice law pending admission (PPA), per Ohio Supreme Court Order 2020-Ohio-2954. Due to postponement of the Bar Exam, the Ohio Supreme Court is permitting recent law school graduates to petition to practice law pending admission to the Bar, so long as they: (1) are a December 2019 or 2020 graduate of an ABA accredited law school; (2) have applied to take the upcoming bar exam; (3) have received final approval of applicant’s character, fitness, and moral qualifications to practice from the Board of Commissioners on Character and Fitness; (4) practice under the supervision of an active Ohio attorney in good standing who has been licensed for at least three years; (5) have not failed any previous bar exam since graduation from law school; (6) complete and submit to the Office of Bar Admissions a form asserting that the applicant agrees to be bound by the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct; and (7) complete and submit for approval to the Office of Bar Admissions an application to Practice Pending Admission.

Mr. Randolph resides in Summit County and is an avid golfer. Outside of his legal work, he enjoys volunteering, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
